I had my first weekly weigh in at my Weight Watchers meeting tonight, and much to my delight, I lost 2.2 lbs! I shouldn't have been surprised because I stayed within my point range this week, but I guess I wasn't feeling deprived so it was hard to believe that I was actually losing weight. I'm definitely sold on the program.
I was reminded at the meeting today of how important it is to plan. If dinner rolls around and you haven't thought about what you're going to eat, it's highly likely that you'll make a bad choice to satisfy your hunger quickly. I had a plan this week, and I know it's 90% of the reason I lost the 2 pounds (meal planning scores again!)
When I planned out our meals I tried to think of the things we would normally like to eat and then researched if there may be a healthier version. That way I'm not eating all kinds of random things that I don't even like. Part of a healthy lifestyle is honoring who you are, what you enjoy, and your stage of life (aka I can't spend hours in the kitchen!). You can make healthier eating choices and still be yourself. I saw how that played out this week.
I also saw how I could make healthier choices in "real life" situations: at a potluck with friends, at a family lunch gathering, at Mimi's birthday celebration, and at McDonald's (of all places!) Let's face it, we can't stop life when we want to lose a few pounds. That's why it was so important for me to find a plan that was so flexible.
With that said, I thought I'd share a couple of websites that I've been browsing to get some recipes ideas:
Hungry Girl (I want her new book!)
There are a few more that I want to look through, but those three have been helpful this week.
Before I call it a night I thought I'd share a couple more of our dinners from the week. On Wednesday we enjoyed baked tilapia on a bed of spinach (my own creation). Our sides were green beans, 1/2 sweet potato (brown sugar & cinnamon added!), and a salad.
And then tonight we had Chicken and Veggies over rice (The original recipe is from Green Lite Bites. It's actually Chicken with Portabellos. I didn't have mushrooms so I used green bell pepper instead, and it turned out great! Definitely a keeper.)
By the way, you'll have to bear with me for a few weeks. When I'm excited about something it's hard for me not to talk/write about it!
But that's all for tonight... G'night!
