Silas' 2nd Birthday!

See that little man down there with the cupcake mouth? He turned two this past weekend!

And we celebrated Mickey Mouse Clubhouse style!

We had a great time celebrating at the park with family and friends. I'm very grateful for my family's help in pulling the party together. Uncle Eric and Aunt Brit made the cupcakes and birthday cake, Mimi and Pop provided the nachos and party favors (including everyone's cool mouse ears!), Aunt Faith brought her yummy chocolate chip cookies, and Nanny Sara was the official photographer! We couldn't have done it without you guys! Thanks a bunch! Silas had a blast playing with his friends at the park and opening presents. He also enjoyed way too much sugar, but that didn't stop him from taking a good nap when the party was over. Thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated with us.

Our Morning

Si and I headed to the library for Story Time this morning.

We all get a paper with the songs and finger plays for the day. This month's theme is bugs, one of Silas' favorite topics.

After the singing, reading, and finger plays the kids are allowed to play. There were so many kids this morning! Silas was a little apprehensive at first (can you spot him?), but he warmed up quickly. And he was a GREAT sharer this morning. Yay, Silas!

You can't see the little girl in this pic, but Silas was giving her some pieces to the puzzle he was making so that they could make it together. He was extra sweet today.

After Story Time we headed to the mall for a quick lunch. Silas enjoyed his pizza from Subway- he ate the whole thing! After lunch we hit Motherhood Maternity so I could grab a few third trimester shirts to get me through to the end of the pregnancy. This was my first trip to Motherhood this pregnancy, which is pretty awesome. The clothes I've been wearing have been from my last pregnancy or from thrift stores or hand-me-downs or gifts from my sweet Mama. I picked up some basic solid shirts that I can either wear casually or dress up with jewelry or a scarf. There were plenty of cute things for spring, but with just 12 weeks of pregnancy left, I couldn't justify buying anything but the basics!

Of course, we couldn't leave the mall without playing in the "mechanical ride" section. I tried to distract Silas, but he spotted those little rides a mile away. Thankfully he's still at an age where he doesn't care if they move or not. He just enjoys climbing in and out and pretending...

...and moving from ride to ride quicker than this pregnant lady could move!
It was a fun morning. Silas was so good, even while shopping. His only protest was when it was time to leave the rides, but we manged to get things under control before a major meltdown occurred. And the good thing about busy mornings is that they usually lead to long afternoon naps- yay!

Out of Hibernation

After way too many days of being couped up in the apartment, Silas and I were excited to finally get out and enjoy the park today! It was still quite chilly, but much more bearable with the sun shining down on us. My little man was in heaven...

Yay for the park!!

Believe it or not he was actually saying "cheese" in this picture. Couldn't quite get him to smile though!

Preparing for take-off...

Silas' new favorite thing is to jump OFF of things. He's been jumping off the couch and chairs all week!

He loves to swing

We picked up lunch before heading to the park.. I figured all that running around would spark our appetites :)

Silas pretending to fish with his stick.. he's really using his imagination a lot these days.
Thankful for Fresh Air,

Painting with a Twist

On Monday night I was invited to join a group of friends for a fun night at Painting with a Twist (follow the link to learn more) in Houma. I had a gotten a gift card to this place for Christmas, and I was eager to give it a try. Basically you get a group of friends together, bring snacks (if you want), and enjoy an evening of painting together. The cool part is that no experience is required. Everyone paints the same picture, and there is an instructor guiding you each step of the way. And even cooler than that- you get to go home with a beautiful painting that you painted yourself! I can't wait to hang mine up! I would definitely do this again, even without a gift card. It's totally worth the money! Here are some pictures from the evening...

This is my finished painting.. I didn't get any pictures during the painting process because, well, I was too busy hanging on to every word the instructor spoke!

Here's what part of the room looked like.. the instructor stood on a stage in front where everyone could see her. She periodically walked around to give a few pointers.

Me with my painting... I had my doubts about how it would actually turn out, but I'm pretty satisfied with the finished product!

The whole group of us with our paintings!

I highly recommend this as the perfect "girl's night out" activity or as a great gift to give to someone else who may enjoy a little paint therapy!
(Thanks, Jess for the gift card!!)
