Tuesday's Thoughts (3/11/14)

Bike Riding with Uncle Eric
Thankful for... the end of polar vortex 2014! It's been a loooong, cold winter here in the south.

Listening to... the most recent episode of The Art of Simple podcast. Tsh chats with Susan Wise Bauer, author of The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home. I really enjoyed listening to Susan speak from a homeschooling mother's point of view. She is extremely down-to-earth, and  she certainly gave me some new perspective about learning at home. I'd recommend listening!

Wondering...how long Liam's clothing obsession will last. My laundry pile is growing thanks to his multiple outfit changes during the day. As I type this he's wearing two shirts and mismatched socks. The positives are (1) he is very independent when it comes to clothing himself, and (2) the proud look on his face always makes me smile.

Hoping... to try these Lemon Garlic Tuna Burgers soon. They look delish.

Enjoying the boys' first New Orleans Pelicans basketball game thanks to the generosity of some sweet friends

Looking forward to... an upcoming field trip to the Global Wildlife Center! If you haven't been yet, put it on your bucket list this spring. It's such a fun experience!

Creating... a profile on the My Fitness Pal app! After a couple of years using the Weight Watchers app, I'm excited to finally be joining the My Fitness Pal community. I absolutely LOVE Weight Watchers, but I'm drawn to some of the cool features on My Fitness Pal, which I'm hoping will help to re-motivate me and give me the push I need to drop the 5 (or so.. hehe) pounds I accumulated during polar vortex 2014!

Reading... and studying the book of Philippians AGAIN. I read and studied it through once this year, and it was so sanctifying that I decided to go through it again with a couple of friends. We're using the Precepts for Life free printable Philippians study guide to guide our discussions. Choosing JOY (Jesus, Others, then You) despite circumstances is definitely a timely topic for me during this season of life.

my new favorite beverage: Celestial Seasonings cool brew peach tea.. so refreshing!

Learning... that I shouldn't let my tea bags sit in the water for more than 10 minutes or the tea will become bitter!

Reminding myself... to be what I want to see in my children.

Praying for... my roots to grow deep in Christ. One of my favorite bloggers, Jess Connell, recently wrote, "It is easy for us as humans to grow the sideways roots, parallel to the ground. I think this happens when we draw life, joy, and contentment from people, from things, from events in our life, from accolades. These things can bring a temporary joy (and that, in and of itself, is not wrong). However, that temporary joy can mask the true need, which is roots that grow down deep into the ONLY thing that securely grounds us: CHRIST."

Hope y'all are having a Happy Tuesday!
