First of all, the refrigerator is fixed! ...and we saved my mom's homemade chicken stew! *woohoo*
Second of all, there are two things that make me happy. Well, technically there are way more than two, but for the sake of this blog, let’s make it two. Anyway, those two things would be: great food and great deals! I’ve done a little exploring of the city of New Orleans in the past couple of days, and much to my delight, I've discovered both! With our refrigerator acting up, we haven’t purchased any groceries lately, which gives us a great excuse to eat out (one of our favorite things to do). Well, thanks to a friend of ours, we were introduced to a little cafe on Elysian Fields near the UNO campus called Lafitte’s Cafe. The best thing about this little cafe is that it isn’t far from the seminary and it isn’t fast food! When we walked into the cafe for dinner, we were pleasantly surprised to find it very clean and inviting. We followed the directions on the dry erase board and sat ourselves, which wasn’t hard because there weren’t many people there. The casual atmosphere definitely caters to a college crowd with its wireless Internet service, TV’s, and UNO memorabilia surrounding us. We were immediately greeted by our waiter who looked to be a college student himself. He kindly offered us beverages and gave us our menus to peruse. The restaurant offers a variety of different hot meals, salads, and sandwiches/po-boys, as well as coffees and desserts. Before we knew it, we were munching on our seafood po-boys (catfish for Kevin and shrimp for me), which turned out to be very tasty! Needless to say, it was a very positive experience, and I look forward to going back. You should try it sometime :)
Stay tuned for part 2—Great Deals!
