Great Deals

"”Consignment shop” is an American English term for second-hand stores that offer used goods at a lower price than new. Many offer new items as well. The dealer pays the seller a percentage upon the sale of the goods.” ~Wikipedia

I love consignment shops/secondhand shops/good ol’ fashion hand-me-down shops, whatever you want to call them. The reason being: (1) I love bargains (2) I love finding things that are unique... its sort of like a treasure hunt (3) I can actually sell my old stuff (4) we’re at seminary aka we’re not wealthy. Anyway, whatever I’m looking for, it's always way more fun to find it for dirt-cheap at a consignment shop. So, of course, I was thrilled when I discovered that there is a consignment shop just down the street from where I work. I can’t believe I never knew this! I guess its because I always go in the opposite direction to get home. Well, for some reason this week I found myself in front of this wonderful little place called “Second Act.” With a little time to spare I decided to check it out. First of all, the employees there were SO nice. They immediately introduced themselves to me and gave me an “orientation” to the shop (how things are sorted, sale racks, jewelry counter, dressing rooms, etc.). Sadly, I didn’t really have time to treasure hunt, but I did have time to notice that they had some great name brand pieces (Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Limited, etc.) in great condition for really great prices. And everything was so neatly arranged that I didn’t even feel like I was in a consignment shop! Just a side note, I work in a pretty ritzy part of town so I’m sure that makes a big difference in the style and organization of this particular shop, but nonetheless, consignment shops are the coolest! I’ll definitely begin my “treasure hunt” soon!
