Zoo Trip

After much talk about taking a trip to the zoo, we FINALLY made it there on Friday! It was Silas' first time to the zoo so, of course, he was enthralled when he saw all the LIVE animals that we've only read about in books.
Here are some pics from our adventure...
This is the face of a little boy VERY excited about his first trip to the zoo!
I'm so glad we brought the wagon. It served many purposes on the trip, not the least of which included a place to prop my feet up from time to time to keep the swelling down. (Cousin Kamile joined us on the trip.)
Of course, seeing the animals is great, but touching them is even better! Silas was very brave and touched most of the animals in the "petting" area.

Another big hit was the carousel. In fact, judging by the major meltdown Silas had when it was time to get off, I think it may have been Silas' favorite part of the zoo.

Heading into the swamp exhibit...

 The real deal...
We didn't get to see all the animals during our visit. We ran out of time. But right before we left we got snowballs and took a train ride to cool down.

And five minutes after leaving the zoo...
All in all, it was a great day considering (1) We were there at Silas' nap time and (2) I'm nearing 34 weeks pregnant. Both Silas and I held up pretty well though. I think the best thing we did was to take it slow even though we didn't get to see everything the zoo had to offer this time around. I'm looking forward to going back at the end of the year when the weather cools down and Liam is a little older.
P.S. I hope you don't mind that I spared you all the pics of the animals. If you've seen one brown bear you've seen 'em all, right? Haha.
