The Big Brother

As I mentioned in my last post, Silas doesn't pass up any opportunity to hug and kiss on his baby brother.

So far Silas has been very welcoming toward Liam. The only correcting I have had to do usually sounds like, "Your brother doesn't need kisses right now- he's sleeping." Haha.
However, I am not naive to the fact that Silas' world has changed, and his little mind is having to process the "new normal." We've tried to keep his routines as normal as possible, and I believe that has helped. Silas has always thrived on routines, and I've learned that just a couple of days off schedule can totally throw him off. Liam, on the other hand, is still on an irregular schedule so it can be challenging at times. This is one of the many reasons I'm so thankful that Kevin is a very hands-on dad with a fairly flexible schedule! He's such a great support! Although he mostly helps with Silas, he also tends to Liam so that I can spend some quality time with Silas each day, which is very important to me.

Silas really enjoys being involved in caring for Liam. He has a stool next to the changing table so that he can see what's going on. He helps to grab diapers and give Liam his pacifier. He also helps during bath time and loves to sit in the rocker with whoever is rocking Liam to sleep. We talk a lot about things that Silas and Liam will  be able to do together when Liam gets a little older. I'm looking forward to seeing these precious boys grow up together.

Below are a few pics of what Silas has been up to lately.

Silas made his brother a little play dough creation.

Kevin has been taking Silas to the pool almost every day. We bought him a new swim float this year, and he loves it. He's becoming much more independent in the water and getting braver by the day. I haven't been able to go swimming yet, but Liam and I go out and sit by the pool to watch Silas swim whenever possible.
Sometimes Silas drives his car to the pool :)

My little stud

Silas has been getting extra love and attention from his Mimi and Pop. Here he is picking blackberries at Mimi and Pop's house.

Silas enjoying helping me with household chores. He insists on doing EVERYTHING himself.

Silas and his Papa served in Uncle Eric and Aunt Brit's wedding this past weekend.

I can't say that life with a two-year old is without challenges. We're in the midst of some pretty intense training these days. We have a very passionate and independent little guy on our hands who's slowly learning that the world does not revolve around him. Thankfully life with a two-year old also provides some of the best comic relief and some of the sweetest memories. I know I'll look back on this season and miss it like crazy some day so I'm trying my best to soak up every moment, constantly reminding myself that these are the best days.
