Ah, August is here. I know we still have another month before Fall officially arrives, but it makes my heart happy to see the light at the end of this long, hot, busy summer. I am so ready for life to slow down and become more routine. We're finally settling into our new house. I've hung curtains and pictures and shelves, and it's really beginning to feel like home. From here on out it'll pretty much be working on projects a little at a time. Don't get me wrong, we still have a mess in the laundry room/2nd bathroom, trim that still needs painting, and plenty organizing/decorating projects to keep me busy for a while--but it's nothing that's preventing us from getting on with life and having people over to enjoy life with us.
Remember this room?
I'm happy to report that we've made a dent in the mess and can finally see some organized spaces coming together!
Like I said, there's still plenty to be done, but we're making headway.
And just as my physical surroundings are coming together, so is my emotional state. Praise God. As the clutter clears so does my thinking. I'm actually anticipating the Fall season and all the fun that comes along with it.
Before I close, I just wanted to share a new dessert I found on Pinterest- my newest addiction. (Seriously, it's like a one-stop-shop for getting decorating ideas, recipe ideas, organization ideas, outfit ideas, and SO MUCH MORE!) Anyway, I saw this pretty picture of strawberry and angel food cake kabobs drizzled with chocolate. Simple enough, right? So tonight we had some friends over for dinner, and I decided to give it a try. HUGE HIT! So tasty and so pretty! Take a look...
If you're looking for a little "pretty" for your next gathering, I would recommend these. The recipe is pretty self-explanatory. Sliced Strawberries + Cubed Angel Food Cake + Kabob Sticks + Melted Chocolate = Yumminess.
Well, the boys are both in bed so I guess I should try to get some sleep myself.
