Last Monday Kevin took off for the Together for the Gospel conference in Louisville, KY so the boys and I spent some time with my parents. We always enjoy our time there. A change of scenery is a welcome blessing for a stay-at-home mom who occasionally needs a break from the monotony of the daily grind at home.
While we were there Silas got a much-needed haircut. This was only his second time getting a "professional" haircut (Kevin usually cuts his hair), and he did great. Considering his track record of all out hysterics when he gets his hair cut, I was beyond shocked to see him sit so still and calm while Mrs. Paige snipped away. I'm not sure if he has just matured a little or if he really, really wanted that double bubble bubble gum he was promised if he did well. Either way, it was a huge success, and he looks so grown up with his new style!
We also got to enjoy my Aunt's pool on a beautiful sunny day. Liam was a little very apprehensive at first, but he warmed up pretty quickly.
Silas has a blast floating around in Liam's rocket ship floater that Liam refused to get in. I was impressed with Silas' bravery at the pool. I can definitely see much more maturity this summer in his willingness to try new things.
Yummy poolside snacks were provided by Aunt Faith. Snacks are always a big hit with Liam.
My Mom stopped by to pick up Liam for nap time, and I was able to enjoy about an hour soaking up some sun. It was glorious!
The boys and I went for wagon rides almost every day we were there. I enjoyed pondering sweet childhood memories as we strolled around the yard and neighbored. The yard I grew up in is now the perfect place for little boys to explore.
Of course, Silas had to have his turn pulling the wagon.
The boys also enjoyed a little swimming pool that my parents bought for them. The water was a bit chilly, but that didn't stop these guys.
My future sports star...
My future clown (hehe)...
We had a blast, but, of course, we really missed Kevin. We were happy to pick him up at the end of the week to enjoy a little weekend getaway (more on that trip to come!).
