At about 5pm this afternoon my husband asked me if I had taken energy pills today.
I was actually smiling and had worked up a bit of a frolic in the kitchen while making dinner.
I chuckled and replied with a "no."
"But I did take something," I tagged on, matter-of-factly.
"I took a power nap!"
And just as the words slipped out of my mouth, I realized the far-reaching effects of rest.
I've long held to the belief that if I hustle around like a busy little ant while the rest of the house sleeps I'm making the most of my time.
This afternoon I got more done after my power nap than I do when I don't nap at all.
And my physical body yelled, "Thank You!"
And my family fed off of my unusual late afternoon energy.
So from now on when my body screams "rest!" in the afternoons, I think I'm going to do myself and my family a favor and humbly oblige.
There's grace for me.
It's called sleep.
"It is useless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at
night, anxiously working for food to eat; for God gives rest to his
loved ones" ~Psalm 127:2
