And I’m not talking about a “unit of temperature” but rather an academic degree. As I sit here at my tidy little desk where I fulfill my duties as an administrative assistant, I can’t help but reflect upon the fact that I could probably be sitting in this same squeaky computer chair with or without a degree. So I ask myself, “Do I regret my 5-year journey to a fancy piece of paper?” And my response, “Not for a second!” The fact is, for me, my degree is so much more than a fancy piece of paper—it’s all about the journey, specifically the spiritual journey that ensued as a result of my time in university study. In the Bible, people were always taking journeys, including Jesus Himself. The amazing part is that God used, and still uses, life’s natural journeys to bring about supernatural effects. It was only natural for me to pursue a post-secondary degree after high school, and I STRESSED about what it was that God wanted me to study. Little did I know that he had so much more in store for me than career training. He goal was, and still is, holiness training. And today, as I sort and file, I testify of the goodness of our God in reminding me of that.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” ~Ephesians 3:20
