“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” ~1 Thessalonians 5:18
I’m always wondering, “What is God’s will for my life?” while simultaneously thinking, “If the Lord would only provide for this or make a way for that, then I could fulfill His will for me.” Interesting that He says, “Just be thankful right now—this is my will for you.” Needless to say, I fail at this on a regular basis. Today my prayer is that God would give me a grateful heart, one that honors that He is sovereign in all circumstances and that He is more interested in the means rather than the end. So, in light of my meditation, I wanted to list a few things that I am thankful for today:
The provision of God’s Son for my salvation.
The provision of God’s Word that always brings light to my path.
The provision of a loving husband who desires to lead our family in the path of righteousness.
The provision of friends and family who love me and spur me on to love and good deeds.
The provision of jobs for Kevin and I that allow us to serve God and serve people.
And, of course, this list would not be complete without mention of fried shrimp po-boys, rainy nights, amusement parks, and feeling the sand between my toes on a nice sunny day at the beach (just to name a few).
